How do I find my number?
First, know that this process can take time. Some of us read a description or take a test and can identify our number quickly.
Other numbers are going to struggle. Sixes and Nines are two of the numbers that have the hardest time finding their number.
All people share characteristics of all the numbers and very few people fit all the characteristics of their core number. So be prepared to try on a few and see how they fit.
Second, look at the core motivations and desires of the number.
You may have behaviors that are more consistent with a different number, but the why behind what you are doing is the important part.
This is going to take nonjudgmental observation. Keep a journal of how you react in certain situations. Also, reflect on what you looked like in your early 20s.
Third, what do you look like when you are stressed out or in your comfort zone?
These moves on the enneagram can be very revealing. It tends to be more extreme and not always the best part of you.
Fourth, talk it out with someone who knows you well.
You need honest feedback and sometimes we are good at telling ourselves things that are not completely honest.
Reminder!!!
No two people are exactly alike even if you share the same core number. There are other factors that can make your behavior look very different!
The number that you read about and makes you feel the most uncomfortable or feel like they are finally understood has a good chance of being your core number.
